Summary

This resource introduces How We Feel, a free science-based app designed to help users identify, track, and regulate their emotions. Created by researchers, designers, and therapists (including experts from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence) the app draws on the RULER approach and the Mood Meter framework to promote emotional awareness and well-being. Users check in on how they feel, reflect on possible causes, and access evidence-based strategies and videos to manage emotions in healthy, intentional ways.

How to use

Faculty can use How We Feel to support emotional learning and reflection among students, helping them build vocabulary and strategies for self-awareness and regulation. Instructors might integrate the app into wellness activities, reflective journals, or classroom discussions on mental health, leadership, or emotional intelligence. Using the app can also encourage students to explore how emotions influence learning, decision-making, and collaboration in academic and professional settings.
